From...Mat Kanan WMU Media Relations Director:

Senior punter Jim Laney earned his second Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week award after averaging 40.2 yards per punt on five punts in the Broncos’ win against Temple in the season finale. Laney also ended the season sharing the record for average punt yardage in a season at Western Michigan with Adam Anderson.

The Toledo, Ohio, native booted five punts against the Owls, recording a game long 57 punt during the game. This was his 14th punt of 50 yards or longer this season, matching the most in a season for his career and giving him 34 punts of 50 yards or better in his career. Laney matched Adam Anderson’s four-year old record of 43.9 yards per punt for a season.
